Abbey.com finds travellers waste funds

Abbey Banking has revealed that Britons collectively waste £1 billion per year by attempting to use up foreign currency in airport departure lounges.
Research by the bank indicates that 16 million people in the UK admitted to wasting foreign cash while on their way home from a holiday. The average amount spent in this way is £65, the figures showed.
Those between the ages of 25 and 34 are most likely to get rid of their money in airports, according to the findings.
Steve Shore, head of banking at Abbey, remarked that the amount that Britons "are prepared to waste" is "amazing".
"Even with a commission fee, converting the money back into sterling is far more cost effective than splurging it on things you don't need," he explained.
"And with a current account like Abbey's that pays eight per cent on balances up to £2,500, that £60 that people waste could be working so much harder."
Recently, Abbey Current Accounts research discovered that 5.9 million Britons would like their partner to spend more on them.
